Meet Laura
Laura Nelson is an experienced pastor and author with a passion to help people grow in their faith through entering stories of shame. She earned her Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity from Regent College. She served as the Senior Pastor of a church in New Westminster, BC Canada for the past 12 1/2 years and has now entered into semi-retirement where Laura is preaching occasionally, coaching/mentoring, and facilitating intensive weekend retreats where people can process stories of trauma. Through training with The Allender Center in Narrative Focused Trauma Therapy and The Journey Course with Jay Stringer as an Unwanted Guide, Laura desires to help people reclaim their voice, experience grace, and make connections between past experiences and current behaviors.
Laura is a single parent with two adult daughters, one that works as Operations Director for a church and one that is a midwife and Naturopathic Doctor. She loves to visit and spend time with her daughters, enjoys sitting by the ocean reading, listening or participating in worship music, creating projects in stained glass, and designing creative, cohesive times of worship. As a result of her journey and past sexual behavior she comes with empathy and a desire to help others. She considers it an honor and privilege to come alongside people to help them in their journey, encouraging and supporting men and women in finding freedom and wholeness.
